Palmer’s Olive Oil Haircare Range

Being so used to the shea and cocoa butter in Palmer’s products, I honestly had my reservations when I saw the Palmer’s olive oil haircare range on their website. So when a few weeks ago the Palmer’s Olive Oil Range was launched in the UAE, I could not wait to get my hands on it to test it.

My hair can be a nightmare sometimes (or most of the times. In fact all the time!). Severe dermatitis of the scalp leads to flaking and itching of the skin (and it “burns” when I use products loaded with chemicals btw), but that also leads to overactive oil glands and hence a very oily scalp. On the other hand, since my hair is very long, and color treated, the ends are extremely dry. I am forever in the dilemma of oily vs dry hair care products. And wearing a headscarf makes matters even worse, as I tend to tie it up tightly and sometimes even while it’s wet sob. All in all my hair fits almost every category of shampoo available in supermarket aisles.

My normal hair care routine is to use a medicated shampoo twice a week and the Palmer’s Raw Shea Butter Shampoo almost thrice a week. Apart from that, I also condition my hair ends heavily with the Palmer’s Raw Shea Butter Conditioner every time I wash my hair. Next, is using an oil spray and a serum on the ends while blow-drying the hair. Even after all this, sometimes my hair looks like I was caught in a hurricane!

Anywho, all this backstory is so that you understand my daily hair care struggle.

Now, the Palmer’s Olive Oil haircare range launched in UAE includes a shampoo and a leave-in conditioner. I mean I was pretty excited about the Palmer’s olive oil shampoo because, at one point in time (when I was single), the only treatment for my hair was using EVOO on my hair twice a week! Of course doing that right now is a dream come true because getting that oil out of the hair takes hours, so a shampoo with the same ingredient would be a blessing. Buuuut, I was more excited about the Palmer’s Olive Oil leave in conditioner in all honesty! Come on, we all know that mothers shower at record-breaking speeds. Which means there isn’t a lot of time to really leave the conditioner in the hair to do its work. So if I can cut down on that time, and still have (slightly) manageable hair it would mean the world to me!!

Now while I did see it being used at the launch, I attributed the results to the professional blow dries the women were getting. Nevertheless, I went home and used the range first thing, and I was pleasantly surprised by the results. No, I don’t have perfect model hair after using it. But I am getting the same results that I got after going through a whole haircare regime. Just a shampoo and a leave-in conditioner (and my medicated shampoo) is all I need right now!

Palmer’s Olive Oil Smoothing Shampoo

The key ingredients in the Olive Oil Shampoo are Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Jamaican Black Castor Oil, Vitamin E, and Keratin. Over the years it has been proven via numerous studies that Olive Oil and Castor oil have a nourishing effect on the hair, and they also aid hair growth by working on the hair follicles. Vitamin E is essential for the strength and health of hair. Keratin helps to repair damaged hair and since it’s a protein it promotes the overall health of hair.

Palmer’s Olive Oil Leave-In Conditioner

Now I can rave about the Palmer’s Olive Oil leave in conditioner. So the basic ingredients are exactly the same as those in the shampoo, but using the leave-in conditioner after the shampoo increases the effectiveness of those ingredients as the hair get’s a double dose, and with the leave-in conditioner, the ingredients stay in the hair and have more time to work on it.

When I first read the ingredients, I thought that the leave-in conditioner would be pretty oily and heavy. But when I used it, it was a completely different product. Not only does it NOT weigh down the hair, it is not oily at all. You can barely notice it in your hair until you smell it (and it smells amazing btw!). The spray nozzle distributes it evenly and is easy to use. Once sprayed onto the hair, you can brush it (it acts as a detangler) and leave it to air dry or blow dry it and either way, there is almost no frizz! The best part is that if you still have some frizzy hair, you can always spray some more and not feel like you have just oiled your hair.

The Verdict

I am so happy with the Palmer’s Olive Oil Haircare Range. The shampoo smells amazing and soothes the scalp apart from it’s nourishing properties. And I could go on and on about the Palmer’s Olive Oil Leave-In Conditioner! It has replaced 3 products from my hair care regimen (conditioner, serum, oil) and I just have to spray it on and I am done for the day! You have to try it at least once to know what I am talking about. As usual, all the products are phthalates, sulfates, mineral oils, parabens, gluten, and dye FREE!!

The Palmer’s Olive Oil Formula Haircare Range has a lot of other products if you live in the USA. The Palmer’s Olive Oil Smoothing Shampoo and the Palmer’s Olive Oil Leave-In Conditioner are available at select Boots Pharmacies across UAE (see locations below) for just 32 AED each.
